When a tourist visit Montenegro, a «must have» program of excursions, as a rule, includes a visit the Bay of Kotor. And this is very correct - it is incredibly beautiful there!
Boko Kotorska bay is rightly considered as one of the most beautiful bays in the world. And there is the only inland ferry in Montenegro between the villages of Lepetane and Kamenari, which connects the municipality of Tivat and Herceg Novi. Ferries shuttle in the narrowest part of the bay - the Verige Strait, whose width is 300 meters (984ft). The ferrying allows you to save about 30 km (18,6mi) of track and about 45 minutes of time required to detour around the bay, plus it gives you time to enjoy the picturesque scenery of Boka Kotorska bay and also to make great photos and memories. Fishermen are very fond of Boka Kotorska, it is a good fishing spot in Montenegro. Fish and seafood in Montenegro are especially interesting for tourists.
Ferries are the platforms for 50 cars. Approximate travel time is 10 minutes. The fare for a passenger car is 4.5 euros, for passengers - for free. The fare on the ferry Lepetane - Kamenari for different categories of goods:
- pedestrian / passenger - free ride
- bike - 1 euro
- motorcycle - 2 euros
- car - 4,5 euros
- passenger car with a trailer / van (for the carriage of passengers more than 7 + 1 seats) - 8 euros
- van (for cargo) / minibus (7-20 seats) / truck (up to 5 tons) - 9 euros
- truck (more than 5 tons) / van (for passengers and cargo) with a trailer / truck (up to 5 tons) with a trailer - 12,5 euros
- buses - 15 euros
- lorry with trailer or semi-trailer / bus with trailer - 22 euros
- special vehicles with non-standard overall dimensions - 25 euros
When approaching the crossing, a marking is applied to the lane - «ferry», which you must take and follow it directly to the ferry, where will be a separation along the lanes: «small car» - for cars, «truck and bus» - for trucks and buses. Tickets are sold at the box office right next to the crossing. There you will be given a ticket and a cashier's check. At the entrance to the ferry the ticket must be presented to the controller and then you will be shown a place for your car on the ferry. After all the cars stop at the ferry, the side rises - and the ferry departs.
The Lepetane-Kamenari ferry is working according to the summer and winter schedule. The summer schedule applies for the period from June to October, when the ferry departs every 15 minutes per day. In the winter from October to June, the ferry departs approximately once per hour. The busiest traffic through the ferry takes place in the morning from 7 am to 9 am, in the afternoon from 12 pm to 2 pm and in the evening from 4 pm to 6 pm. There are no traffic jams on the access roads.

At the height of the tourist season (July-August), you may have to stand in line for the ferry. Queuing time can be up to 45 minutes. Therefore, as an alternative, everyone who is tired of city traffic can be offered the option of driving around the colorful bay around the picturesque cities - Kotor, Perast, Risan.
